Lessons of the Circumpolar North

Jack Hébert of the Cold Climate Housing Research Center will discuss how to meet cold climate challenges and our changing environment with innovative design and creative building science. At the end of this presentation, you will be able to recognize the changing environments to include cold climates with innovative designs that can fit each unique city/village while building creative and smart.
Jack is the founder and CEO of the Cold Climate Housing Research Center (CCHRC) in Fairbanks, Alaska. He leads CCHRC's team of talented architects, building scientists, and engineers. Jack has over 40 years of design and building experience in Alaska. Jack has driven CCHRC's Sustainable Northern Communities Program that works with communities to design and construct culturally and environmentally appropriate homes. This work has resulted in new homes that use more than 80 percent less energy while costing significantly less than current building practice.
Presentation is approved for 1 hour of AIA continuing education credits.
