Residential Energy Code Compliance

Due to concerns regarding the Cornavirus (COVID-19), the SeaBEC Board has decided to cancel this meeting. We will work with Michael Lubliner to reschedule his presentation. 

The 2018 Washington State Energy Code (WSEC) will be in effect throughout the state on July 1, 2020. This presentation will provide an overview of WSEC 2018 changes. It is ideal for building department staff, builders, sub-contractors, architects, and any other building industry professionals wishing to gain a proficient understanding of this code.

Mr. Lubliner has worked in the energy conservation and renewable energy field for over 35 years, starting his career as the Pacific Northwest regional distributor for Grumman, Bio-Energy Systems, and other renewable energy products. In 1983, Michael began working for the Washington State Energy Office, where he helped develop, implement, evaluate, and refine the Northwest Power Planning Council's Model Conservation Standard, standard energy codes, and Super Good Cents site-built and manufactured housing programs. He works in support of the U.S. DOE Building America Program and the U.S. EPA Energy Star Program. Mr. Lubliner has a B.S. in energy engineering from The Evergreen State College.

Mr. Baylon has been active in the field of energy conservation and energy efficiency since 1975. Dave has authored or coauthored many of the key studies that have informed the Northwest’s approach to energy conservation in both the residential and commercial building sectors. His background includes the design, implementation, and technical review for impact evaluations, field evaluations of emerging technologies, residential and commercial building stock assessments, code development and impact assessments, and Regional Technical Forum UES proposals. Dave served as a principal in the development of field evaluation for five commercial baseline projects, four field reviews of the region’s manufactured housing demand-side management (DSM) programs, four regional multifamily building characterizations projects, three residential duct sealing and performance projects, four heat pump field evaluations, and several field evaluations of Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) residential initiatives in the early 1990s. He has also managed several reviews of energy codes and standards in the Northwest, including reviews of residential energy codes for BPA, the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, the State of Oregon, and for various jurisdictions in the State of Washington.

GGLO is located at Harbor Steps; two blocks South of Pike Place Market and directly across the street from the Seattle Art Museum. From First Avenue, walk a quarter of the way down Harbor Steps and look for the first door on your right. If you reach Post Alley you have gone too far.

Bicycle racks are available on First Avenue and University Street at the top of the Harbor Steps; vehicle parking is available for a fee in the garage under the building
